Visible Language Illustrations

While working on research under the Student Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) grant through SUNY New Paltz, I created a series of illustrations based on paper proposals to the academic design journal, Visible Language.

In imaging how the value of academia may be ameliorated on the web, I designed a ‘front cover’ for each of the final invited proposals. The focus of the issue used in this epistemological investigation fell on the digital humanities, so it felt appropriate to source images used in each illustration from public domain archives. In this case, the archive was the Flickr commons, which culls together a vicissitude of libraries from various contributing organizations and libraries.
